Pasadena gets fewer block grant funds
— reported by the Houston Chronicle
Pasadena’s federal Community Development Block Grant funding for next year will be smaller than it was for this year.
That makes the second year in a row that the federal funding has decreased, according to figures released this week by Miles Arena, Pasadena’s community development director.
For the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated just under $2 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to Pasadena.
That’s about 10 percent less than the $2.2 million the city got this year.
The city will allocate $200,000 of the CDBG money to five social service agencies once the disbursement has been approved by Pasadena City Council and federal officials in Fort Worth and Washington.
