30,000 books donated to young hospital patients, reported by KHOU CBS Channel 11. “Half Price Books dropped off more than 30,000 books at the hospital in the Texas Medical Center. The donated books will be made available to young patients and their relatives as part of the Ben Taub’s Pediatric Literacy Program. ”
I think this is a wonderful example that books can help everyone. The Houston Public Library used to have a partnership with MD Anderson hospital where they provided the materials for a library housed at the hospital and the hospital provided the staff. A few years ago the library was transitioned completely to hospital ownership. But it’s still there, providing reading materials to patients, and their families.
