Akismet
900 comment spams in one day finally pushed me over the edge. I seriously considered just turning off comments completely. I reconsidered.
What I did do was upgrade all my blogs to the newest Word Press version, with comes with Akismet already installed. And then I activated it.
Wow! If I'm to believe the Akismet numbers, in just the few hours since I turned it on it's grabbed more than 1300 spam comments.
I don't know how the rest of you do it, but I don't anticipate going through these emails to see if they're spam or not. I just don't have that kind of time.

trying something else for comment spams
Just moderating comments has decreased the spam that my readers see, but I still have to go through hundreds of spam entries a day. That's just too much work.
I'm trying something new. I'm going to turn off trackbacks on one blog to see if that works. I'll let you know.
