LifeHacker recently published a post entitled How to finish library books on time which has a link to a tabbed system to… well, finish library books on time and (here’s the important part) return them on time as well.
Personally, I never finish books on time. I always need more time and usually have to decide to either pay the fine, and keep it longer, or return it unfinished and re-borrow it.
On that note… I heard this story from a circulation librarian. A customer who had kept a book out for a year and was being billed by a collection agency called the library about the bill. Of course, she was irate. Not particularly because of the bill itself, but because she was going to have to return the book and, honestly, she hadn’t finished it yet.
And I thought it took me a while.
