Mayor Bill White joined State Sen. Rodney Ellis, Mayor Pro-Tem Carol Alvarado and title sponsor Guaranty Bank today in announcing the routes for the 2nd annual Guaranty Bank Tour de Houston bicycle ride benefiting Houston parks on Saturday, March 18, 2006.
This event has become a tradition for anyone who wants to come out and have a great ride through our beautiful city. It’s a chance to see our diverse neighborhoods in a fun and different way, said Mayor White. We’re happy to have Guaranty Bank’s support once
again to help keep Houston moving and to keep
improving our parks.
This year’s event will feature a new 70-mile route in addition to the redesigned 20- and 40-mile routes. Mayor White, Senator Ellis, and Mayor Pro-Tem Alvarado, all avid cyclists, will join bike teams from sponsors Guaranty Bank, Silver Eagle Distributors/Michelob Ultra, and Sun & Ski Sports to kick-off the event at 7:30 a.m. for the 70-mile route, 7:45 a.m. for the 40-mile route, and 8:00 a.m. for the 20-mile route.
