15 foods to help you lose weight

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that losing weight was one of the many New Year’s resolutions I made this year. Yeah, me and millions of Americans have made that promise to ourselves.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this without fad diets and without starvation. (Any tips?) In my research I came across this article on ivillage, from Good Housekeeping, listing 15 foods that are supposed to help you lose weight:

  1. Eggs
  2. Beans
  3. Salad
  4. Green Tea
  5. Pears
  6. Soup
  7. Lean Beef
  8. Olive Oil
  9. Grapefruit
  10. Cinnamon
  11. Vinegar
  12. Tofu
  13. Nuts
  14. High-Fiber Cereal
  15. Hot Red Pepper

The one I found interesting:

6. Soup
A cup of chicken soup is as appetite blunting as a piece of chicken: That was the finding of a Purdue University study with 18 women and 13 men. Why? Researchers speculate that even the simplest soup satisfies hunger because your brain perceives it as filling.
