— Houston Chronicle2

Three Houston-area children have died in what health officials are calling a “moderately severe epidemic” of flu.

From October through January, emergency room workers had treated
32,965 people, according to the city Department of Health and Human
Services. That represents an increase of 31 percent, or nearly 8,000
patients, over the 2006-2007 flu season.
